Essential Info

If you know how to send and read RS232-type serial communication with your computer or from any other electronic device, you can develop and market your own software and/or hardware for use with X10-compatible systems without having to develop your own X10 communications hardware or having to go through costly UL approval. This module is optically isolated and UL approved. The timing-critical nature of communication with this device requires low-level hardware programming experience. It may also require dedicated microprocessor time. Thus, it is not recommended for casual programmers.

You can even make this device a wireless interface! The All-Housecode RF Transceiver (sold separately) contains everything you'll need to add wireless capabilities to the X10 TW523 Two-Way Interface Module.

    Bought it for a SecurLinc2 system, and it apparently doesn't work at all. My X1 system works (units and controllers), but this thing isn't talking at all. I should've gotten a one-way unit and saved some money.

    I had a TW523 connected to a system that worked but became increasingly unreliable in controlling devices. I suspected that the TW523 was degrading in transmitting signals. I replaced it with this one and that seemed to solve the problem.

    I haven't written the code for incoming X-10 commands, but I have been able to send them just fine ... after reading the tech note on your web site ... it was a good excercise for me (felt like I was in school), and I got an A.

    Works exactly as expected. My old one failed during a lightning storm, even though it was on a surge protector. I simply unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one and I was back in business. Smarthome's service was excellent and I am very pleased.

    The description of this product is a little misleading. What was actually shipped and what I received was the X10 Pro PSC05 2-Way Powerline Interface. No matter. The PSC05 and TW523 are basically interchangeable. Using the 7ft RJ11 Crossover Connecting Cable, I connected it to my HAI Omni Pro-II home control system. It works perfectly. Other than X10, my network consists of regular HLC devices, as well as non-HLC UPB devices. Everything works as it should. Very pleased with this purchase.
