If you've been looking for a low-priced learning remote that doesn't compromise on features, look no further! This is a TRUE learning remote that controls up to 8 A/V devices, each with 43 functions - enough for most home theater systems. It learns infrared codes directly from your factory remotes and displays function names on a backlit LCD screen. You can even edit each device and keystroke in any language that uses the Latin alphabet. Uses 4 AAA batteries (sold separately).

    If that's not enough, you can also activate 18 macros, of up to 20 steps a piece. For instance, you'll be able to turn on the TV, select the TV's video input, turn on the DVD player, open the DVD drawer, turn on the processor amplifier and select the A/V processor input or output source - all with just two button presses. You can even insert delay time between steps (from 1 to 99 seconds) in case some of your devices don't respond until a few seconds after they've turned on.

    Unlike other universal remotes that oversimplify the keypad, this remote is equipped with 52 buttons, enough to handle the secondary functions of your other remotes. The remote is lit with a 4-color backlit keypad for easy use at night. Also includes a digital clock, calendar and low-battery indicator.

    The Remote is working very well. It does take a while to program, but it is worth the time. I have one remote now to use in the place of eight.

    The remote works great... HOWEVER... a lot of the comments regarding setup and instructions are spot on. If you get this remote here's some things that will make setup easier... 1. This remote is really a microprocessor (i.e. heavier than your everyday remote) 2. Every key (even the numbers) must be programmed using an existing remote (there are no manufacturer codes to enter) 3. To put the remote in "learn" mode, you need to press a recessed button on the back of the remote. There is no stylus provided to do this, I used a mechanical pencil with the lead extended a half inch or so. 4. When in learn mode, you first select a key on the remote, and then press the same (or comparable) key on your old remote. NOTE: AFTER PRESSING THE BUTTON ON YOUR OLD REMOTE, HAVE PATIENCE... IT TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS FOR THE REMOTE TO STORE THE INFORMATION. Other than a fairly complicated setup process, the remote is easy to use. The only drawback I found is that there is no way to make a key automatically repeat. So holding the volume key down for example, only reduces the volume one click... to lower the volume (or flip-channels) you must repeatedly push the button.

    Overall, a great deal. Macro programming doesn't work the way I thought it should, so I just don't use it. Instructions with the unit are not very good. But it works well and it's sure nice to not juggle the 5 remotes it replaces.

    AWESOME REMOTE! This remote is simply awesome. It is kind of a well kept secret. Really one of the only remotes in this price range that let you "learn" every button. There are a few minor things I would change about this remote but for the price you really can't complain. Really the only thing that bothered me was that the backlight only comes on when you press the light button. It does NOT come on when using the remote buttons themselves. Other than that HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It does take some time to set up however.

    The remote I purchase do not work, it arrive damaged ,I call and spoke to some one,no one got back to me, 50% is not lighted and this remote should be lighted 100%,I would like to return it and get one that is working. HoraceB
